The Archdiocese of St. Louis is rooted in a strong Catholic legacy. We have much to celebrate from the past and much to look forward to in the future. In this change of an age, we are being challenged to think in new ways about how we share our faith. This requires a discerning heart.
Discernment is one of the most difficult types of prayer that we have. Discernment isn’t about what’s good or bad. It’s looking at all the good things God has given to us and discerning, with His Guidance and with the gifts of the Holy Spirit, what is best for us as a people of faith to draw in deeper relationship with Him, moving forward to evangelize, not only the world of today but the world of tomorrow.
From meeting Christ in the Sacraments, wherever they may be shared, to how we strive to live our lives and love our neighbor like Christ lived and loved us, our Catholic faith is an invitation to grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ. The “parish realignment" phase of All Things New is not meant to be the end point. It is meant to be a runway, to launch us into an evangelization that is new in ardor, new in methods, and new in expression. Let us pray for the space to allow the Holy Spirit to guide each of us to where He wants us to be and to discover our own unique role in this movement.
